Dan Golding is Chief Technology Officer at Machine Cognition Advisors, LLC, and one of the world’s foremost experts in data center and network engineering, cloud infrastructure, and AI/ML deployment at scale. He also serves as Chief Technology Officer and Partner at ASG, a firm specializing in data center advisory services.
With a 30-year career spanning hyperscale operations, technical innovation, and business strategy, Dan has led the development of more than $25 billion in data center infrastructure and executed over $600 million in wholesale leasing deals.
Dan is the only Google Engineering Director to have served on both the Google Global Networking and Data Centers Advanced Technology Innovation teams, where he drove groundbreaking work in hyperscale design and deployment acceleration. Prior to Google, he held executive roles at Iron Mountain Data Centers, RagingWire (now NTT), and was a leading analyst and investment banker in the digital infrastructure sector. Dan is widely credited as a co-founder of Ashburn’s “Data Center Alley” and helped pioneer the Donut Model of Internet interconnection. Dan holds a B.E. from Auburn University, an M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering from George Mason University, and is a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School.
